...
Thanks, all you folks, for the comments I got for my first blog. I have been photographing for about 6 months now and I need all the encouragement I can get to shoot like the big boys of the game.

This shot of the lonely tusker at BR hills was shot on an evening safari. He looked docile as he was grazing off the track. Appearances can be deceptive-- that became evident when he CHARGED!

RAGE...Let it be known...

I liked the shot below better as it captured the last phase of the charge, when the tusker came to a grinding halt, just five yards from the jeep! As his trunk and tusks filled my lens, I clicked. Just look at the dust, at the left hand side of the snap, as he halted....

DUST OF FURY

Gorgeous pachyderm indeed,But unfortunately its the gorgeous Tusks that has led to the massacare of these giants. since the big males are targeted the ratio of breeding males to females is gone for a toss. hopefully this guy will survive to complete the circle of life!

nice one

Wow - so majestic. And great you caught the dust - makes the photo less static and gives a sense of context - must have been a great feeling to see it up close like that! Were you scared?

Re: nice one

well i should be frank here, as this guy charged i clicked to capture angry tusks and trunk. it was only later that i realised with great excitement that i got the dust as well on the frame, but as they say luck happens when preparation meets timing so...

if you have not been involved in a charge than sadly you have not *seen* the great indian tusker:) the elephant did coo some noisy tourists on the jeep into silence with his charge! i have been involved in charges before so know what to make of these mock charges.
